Met Gala: How to Recreate our Fav Looks in Only 3 Steps

2018’s Met Ball was one for the books, with celebrities and their makeup and hair artists coming out in full tilt. The Met Ball, also known as the Met Gala, is an annual fundraising Ball to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, New York City. It is a themed event, the theme for 2018 was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’; the Vatican approved it. It made celebrities do their best interpretations of celestial beings, Catholic motifs and religious icons through fashion and makeup.

From Kylie Jenner’s low messy bun, to Amanda Seyfried’s soft waves and golden crown, to Kim Kardashian’s extreme half-up hairstyle, to Bella Hadid’s dark vampire Priestess look, we just couldn’t get enough of their looks! Today, We will show you how to recreate the top 3 hairstyles from this year’s Met Gala, all with only 3 steps.

1. Amanda Seyfried: tight curls with tiara

Don’t we just love Amanda Seyfried’s Met Gala look? Her hairstylist Christian Wood knocked this look right out of the park, or right out of the Metropolitan Museum!  It was a soft, feminine take on the theme. She opted for a gold, regal gown complete with tight beautiful curls and a pretty tiara

Here’s how to create this look:

STEP 1: PART YOUR HAIR DOWN THE MIDDLE, AND CURL YOUR HAIR

Part the center of your hair to start off, then, using a curling iron, curl all your hair. The key to these curls is that they have to face the same way, giving your hair regal, royal look. Be sure to curl all the strands in the same direction to achieve this.

STEP 2: LET YOUR CURLS COOL, THEN TOUSLE THEM

Add hair extensions to add some volume to your hair and curl them too. Once your entire head is curled, leave your hair to cool. Once the curls have been cooled, tousle them and gently break them apart so that they look a little messier and more volumized

2. Kim Kardashian: sleek high ponytail

Kim’s look never goes unnoticed, even with just a simple sleek high ponytail, she makes a style statement. Her hairstylist Christ Appleton created dramatic length and volume in her naturally shoulder length hair, to achieve this 90’s inspired supermodel glam ponytail.

STEP 1: STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR AND Glam Locks HAIR EXTENSIONS

The key is to make your hair look really sleek, so start by straightening your own hair, as well as your Glam Locks Hair extensions.

STEP 2: SECTION OFF YOUR HAIR AND CLIP YOUR EXTENSIONS IN

Create a section at the crown of your head, and flip this section upside down toward the front of your face. Now, take a 2-clip weft and clip it in upside down on the flipped over section. Then, take another 2-clip weft and clip it normally on the other section. These wefts will create that added length and volume in your ponytail for a dramatic effect like Kim’s Met Gala hairstyle. If you want even more length and thickness, you can clip another weft and stack it on top of each of these wefts.

3. Gigi Hadid: pinned back waves

She created the look from Versace’s Spring 2018 show , and who could pull it off better than supermodel Gigi Hadid. Her hairstylist Laura Polka gave her major retro-chic vibes. She wore a skimpy brown single sleeved asymmetrical dress with church glass window inspired patchwork by Versace and paired it with round golden round earrings. Her outfit was the showstopper at Met gala 2018.

Here’s how to create this look:

STEP 1: SEPARATE YOUR HAIR INTO A CENTER PART, AND CLIP YOUR Extensions IN

Create a center part in your hair. Then, separate your hair at the temple and clip a 1 clip weft in. Separate a bit of hair below that and clip a 2 clip weft in. Repeat this on both sides. This extra hair will also help the pins hold and prevent them from slipping and sliding.

Step 2: create loose waves

With the help of a curling iron, start by curling your hair to create loose waves. The trick to creating effortless waves is by starting to wrap your hair around the curling wand at different heights, as well as to wrap some hair strands facing toward your face, while some strands facing away from your face. This will give your waves a bit of extra volume as well.

Step 3: pin each side back

Grab your favorite beret or bobby pin, pull your hair back tightly behind your ear, and pin the hair down just above your ear. Repeat on the other side.
